Thanagazi Carpet
Cluster Development Project is an initiative of Jaipur Rugs
Foundation in collaboration with Department of Industries
(Government of Rajasthan). It explores the idea of providing
a better livelihood opportunity consequently promising a
better today and tomorrow. Thanagazi is an emerging hub of
carpet weaving industry providing livelihood to thousands of
weavers. Through this project an attempt is made to enhance
the earning capacities of the weavers and create them social
entrepreneurs.
Today, Indian carpets have substantially emerged as a major
item of export and thereby placed itself prominently on the
international map. In India, the traditions of carpet-making
stretch back into the medieval era. The art of rug and
carpet making was introduced in India by the great Mughal
emperor Akbar in the 16th century. He spread rug making as
an occupation in the country by bringing weavers from
Kashan, Isfahan and Kerman all in Persia (Now Iran). Some of
the most exclusive carpets were created during the Mughal
era, incorporating an enchanting matrix of designs and
colors. With a brilliant head-start, Indian Carpets paved
its way to global recognition for their exquisite designs,
attractive color, subtle elegance, and workmanship. At
Jaipur Rugs Company, we nurture this legacy with pride and
expertise.
With time the carpet weavers have grown to creators,
artists, who could weave a story into their designs with
every knot they tie, crafting every piece with their hearts
and making their creation symbols of aestheticism. It is
widely believed that rug-making was more profound with
quality skills and elaborate expressions in the Islamic and
Asian cultures.
Thanagazi Carpet Cluster is a tribute to all those weavers
who have carried forward the legacy of carpet weaving and
have kept the traditions alive through classic designs. We
specialize in hand-knotted rugs we have continued to perfect
techniques and carry forward the rich heritage of designs.
We operate as an extended family and welcome each talent
that showcases creativity, leadership and commitment. Our
mission is to develop a secured community that grows with
changing times and to deliver every customer the skills sets
